Naples–Bari project: focus on a Hitachi excavator at work
A high-speed railway line will soon connect the Italian cities of Naples and Bari. With a length of 145 km, the project involves the construction of a tunnel called Le Forche. A Hitachi ZX490LCH-7 excavator is actively taking part in the excavation work.
Zaxis-7 range: excavators built for any challenge
In charge of the project, the M&D group turned to the local dealer SCAI. The dealer recommended the Hitachi Zaxis-7 excavator, particularly for its efficiency during loading and excavation operations thanks to the fast movement of its boom. He also advised equipping it with a hydraulic hammer.
The ZX490LCH-7 excavator is also suited to difficult conditions. Its robust structure relies on an undercarriage capable of withstanding the stresses of abrasive and rocky soils over the long term. All sealing pins have undergone heat treatment to extend their service life. The tracks also benefit from full protection.
A powerful engine
The excavator is equipped with the 6WG1 engine designed by Isuzu. With a displacement of 15.6 litres, this six-cylinder engine delivers a maximum power of 296 kW at 1,800 rpm. It also provides a torque of 2,050 Nm at only 1,300 rpm. These features allow the ZX490LCH-7 to deliver high traction and lifting capabilities. The engine complies with European Stage V environmental standards. It also consumes less fuel than previous generations. Thanks to the addition of after-treatment systems (diesel oxidation catalyst, particulate filter, selective catalytic reduction, etc.), Hitachi announces an 11% saving in PWR mode.
