Loaders are heavy construction equipment used for extraction, loading and material transport over short distances. Loaders are especially used to fill dumps of construction trucks.
A loader may be mounted on tracks (for the most powerful models) or on wheels (for the easiest to handle models). We can also find compact loaders for light works. A loader equipped with a backhoe is called a backhoe loader.
The main part of a loader is its front loader bucket. It is activated by an arm which may be telescopic: the machine is then called a telescopic forklift or construction forklift. We generally find face loaders – their buckets are facing out. Loaders may be equipped with various buckets: HD (High Dump) bucket, tilt bucket, trenching bucket, ditch cleaning bucket, trapezoidal bucket, earthmoving bucket, screen bucket, 4 in 1 bucket, concrete-mixing bucket or crusher bucket. The bucket linkage system allows the operator to easily change its attachment according to his/her needs.
Construction loaders have evolved over the years. The first crawler models were conceived in the 1930’s and the first wheel models in the 1950’s. Nowadays, loaders are performant and equipped with many options: more powerful and eco-friendly engines, optimized hydraulic system, ergonomic cabs, overload indicator, pitch control system, etc.
