Caterpillar unveils their new grader 16M3
Caterpillar introduces their new grader 16M3, optimised in terms of energy, sustainability and safety efficiency.
The new grader 16M3 from Caterpillar benefited from technical improvements that increase its lifespan, power and use comfort, all while facilitating its maintenance.
A clean and fuel thrifty engine
Specially designed for road work and mining activities, the Caterpillar 16M3 increases the efficiency of dumpers with its central blade of 4,9 metres, which levels the ground optimally. Equipped with a Cat C13 ACERT engine with optimised variable power, the new grader meets the requirements for the EPA Tier 4 Final (USA), Stage IV (Europe) and 2014 (Japan) norms. The new ECO mode improves the energy efficiency and helps save up to 4-5 % fuel. The« OK-to-Start » feature offers the possibility to control the oil and coolant level, and alerts the driver if there is a problem.
Efficiency of the powertrain, comfort and safety
The Caterpillar grader 16M3 benefits from the Powershift Cat transmission in direct drive, which includes 8 forward gears and 6 reverse gears. The APECS (Advanced Productivity Electronic Control Strategy) system electronically controls the productivity and facilitate the gear change. The automatic differential lock offers an optimum manoeuvrability. The braking force is increase by approximately 15 %, and the reinforced chassis extend the machine's lifespan.
In the cab, a new tactile color screen helps the operator see and adjust the grader's performances, as well as visualise the service information to avoid breakdowns. An optional platform can be added to access the cab more easily or the service points. The maintenance operations last less and are less frequent.
