The American construction equipment manufacturer launches its new range of Potain cranes : the MDT CCS City tower crane, as well as 2 new lift models for Potain's tower cranes.

Manitowoc introduced their new range of tower cranes Potain MDT CCS City, which will be available for delivery in late 2015. The range includes the MDT 109, MDT 139, MDT 189 and MDT 219, all evolutions of previous MDT City cranes. This new range offers reaches from 55 to 64m, and hoisting capacities from 6 to 10t.

A new crane command system easy to use

« We are at the forefront of tower crane development and our control system will demonstrate this», said Jean-Noël Daguin, SVP of Potain tower cranes. This new command system, available on the all range of MDT CCS (Crane Control System) Potain tower cranes, aims at increasing producitivity on construction sites while being precise. With the CCS system, it takes no more than 15 minutes to commission the crane on site ll done on-screen from within the cab. This easy use increases work speed.

A high, ergonomic and comfortable cab

The Ultraview Potain cab enhances driver ergonomics and comfort and provides more precise crane control. The new Potain Plus function enables driver versatility and productivity, offering precision control and increased load curves. In the Potain Plus mode, CCS limits dynamic effects by automatically adapting speed and acceleration to further optimize the load curve. The CCS system meets the European security norms and offers the highest security level on the tower crane market.

Integrated diagnostics tool and remote maintenance

The machine's maintenance is easy with an integrated diagnostics tool with sensor on the crane. The system also features a remote function, CraneSTAR Diag, allowing technicians to monitor the crane at distance in real time.

All Potain MDT, MD and MR range cranes will use the same cab and control systems, making them easier to commission, operate and maintain, saving time and resources, as well as simplifying training for operators and technicians.

The MDT CCS City cranes allow complex multi-crane installations by considerably reducing the height gaps and interference of cranes on work sites. The assembly, erection, transport and even maintenance times are reduced.

Two new models of operator's lift

In collaboration with Alimak-Hek, worldwide hoist producer, Manitowoc developped 2 operator elevators for their Potain crane range. These new models work for traditional models as well as topless models, with luffing jib or for special applications. The demonstrations for these new operator's lifts starts this summer and will be available for sale at the start of 2016.

CabLIFT, one of the new lifts, sits inside the crane’s mast. It has been exclusively designed for Potain models and insures owners reduced cost of ownership with ease of transport, assembly and storage. The second one is a standard model, which can adapt on all Potain cranes with an access kit made for used cranes.

Lifts compatible with every K mast system

Both models are compatible with every M mast system from 1,6 to 2,45m of width. They can be bought new or adapted on existing cranes. These lifts can go up to 24m per minute. The assembly is easy and doesn't affect the safety.

These new lifts respect the European safety norms.
