The new Caterpillar CAT 988K XE wheel loader with electric drive
Caterpillar just unveiled their new CAT 988K XE wheel loader, which is different from the previous versions thanks to its new electric drive with optimum efficiency. It has the same efficiency in loading tasks but allows better energetic profitability.
An economical, ecological and efficient machine
If the 988K loader already had significant performances, the new model 988K XE offers a better productivity with minimum fuel consumption. Indeed, the manufacturer announced that the new loader will have a 25% more productivity than the previous model and 10% more during the loading and material transport. With a reduced energy consumption, the 988 XE loader reduces the gas emissions. Besides, it can be equipped with different bucket formats, from 4,7 to 13 m³ capacity, for loads weighing up to 16 tonnes. It is also more manoeuvrable : drivers can modulate the speed and drive it easily on all sort of terrains.
Easy maintenance
The constraints of maintenance of the new Cat 988K XE loader were reduced thanks to the electric drive technology. The transmission oil needs are 40% less than for other loaders. Finally, the engine also has a longer lifespan because it is less used. The make's engineers says the machine can go 3500 hours more inbetween maintenance.
