Focus on the air droppable military bulldozer
In Septembre 2016, the company UNAC delivered three air droppable bulldozers to the French Army. This very special bulldozer can be air dropped with a parachute. This air droppable bulldozer prepares landing strips. This machine is also used for land development. The bulldozer is light so it can be transported in a helicopter then parachuted but it is also resistant so it can clear out landing strips in conflict area.
A bulldozer for military conditions
The air droppable bulldozer is a compact bulldozer of 6,5 tonnes. It can be equipped with a bucket in the front and a ripper in the back. The steel chassis includes the tracks, the engine, the fuel tanks and the cab. The special manifacturing gives it a light weight and high resistance.
The cab is equipped with a removable armouring as well as an anti-mine armouring essential for work in military area. The armouring can be taken down in an hour. This bulldozer is versatile since it can be equipped with a multi-axle blade, a ripper and a bucket.
The bulldozer's mission
This bulldozer was designed to prepare and improve hub airports. It can level the ground, clear out or logging these areas so that planes can land or take off.
Before the bulldozer's commisionning, two tests have been done and were conclusive. Indeed, during the different airdrops, five parachutes, with a surface of 730 m2 each, allowed the bulldozer to land in the best conditions possible.
