50th anniversary for the Volvo CE dumpers
In 2016, Volvo CE celebrates the 50th anniversary of their dumpers. The first articulated dumper from Volvo was designed in 1966. European leader on the market for heavy machinery, the make decided to mark the occasion by recounting the machine's history during the 20th century. Since the 60s, the company has developped several dumpers, and is now a reference in terms of heavy machinery. Volvo Construction Equipment celebrates the 50th anniversary of this innovation by commercialising the biggest articulated dumper since its creation : the A60H.
Dumpers are used to transport large quantities of materials on construction sites and especially in mines and quarries. The A60H version, introduced in 2016 by Volvo CE, is adapted to rough terrains since all wheels are drive wheels.
A historical dumper
In 1966, Volvo CE innovates by creating a machine, combining a Volvo farming tractor and a trailer. It was called the DR631, aka « Gravel Charlie ». The first dumper built by the make only had 10 tonnes of useful load and only had a very relative success, especially in Scandinavia. In 1967, the DR860 was born, the first articulated dumper with bogies. This construction makes the tipper stable. The innovation race continue until now with a priority for energy efficiency and terrain adaptability.
The latest dumpers from the H series
In 2016, the world leader in articulated dumper construction launches the H series. The Volvo A60H is the biggest ever built with 55 tonnes of useful load. This machine, adapted to steep terrains, is perfect for construction in mines and quarries. The H series of dumpers from Volvo CE is an ideal alternative to rigid dumpers. The A60H is equipped with innovative technologies that are reliable and comfortable. Finally, the machine has a low use cost.
For the 2016 Bauma that took place in Munich from April 11th, that the machine manufacturer developped their latest dumper. The loading capacity is 40% more important than the loading capacity of the previous series. With the A60 H presentation, Volvo CE celebrates the 50th anniversary of their machines.
