Volvo CE introduces their new wheeled excavator EWR 150 E

In January 2016, Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) introduces their new excavator : the EWR 150 E. Its weight is between 15,2 and 17,8 tonnes depending on the châssis. This excavator has the shortest rear overhang on the market, which gives it great stability. Between manoeuvrability, comfort and efficiency, the Volvo EWR 150 E meets all the needs of the operator. During the different construction steps, Volvo CE invited their clients to test the new excavator in order to create a machine in line with the driver's wishes.

The shortest overhang on the market

On the current market for excavators equipped with Stage IV engines, the Volvo EWR 150 E has the shortest overhang. Indeed, the turning radius is 1 700 mm, which helps manoeuver the wheeled excavator on narrow roads safely.

The latest Volvo CE excavator is offered with two types of different chassis. The 15.2 tonne version is equipped with a chassis welded together with an engine close to the engine of the EW 140 excavator. The second version weights 17.8 tonnes and has a chassis screwed on a blade, screwed stabilisers and an strong engine that can increase the towing force by 30%.

A cab designed for better safety and greater comfort

The cab of the new  Volvo CE wheeled excavator offers a great field of vision since the machine's turret is low. This layout gives the operator the good height to see walkers and obstacles.  The EWR 150 E excavator can have the « Volvo Smart View » technology. This system has three cameras on the excavator's chassis, which gives an aerial view of the machine and a vision of the blind spots.

The EWR 150 E excavators's cab is very comfortable for the driver because it gives him room for his legs. The dashboard has a big LCD screen, a keyboard and command buttons have been simplified to help the operator be more efficient.

Finally, a drawer to store tools has been added on the chassis of the excavator. This storage can contain 120 kg.
