The RedBird drones collect data with Caterpillar

Caterpillar and French company RedBird, specialised in data recovery on construction sites by civil drones, become partners to offers clients new opportunities.

    What is RedBird ?

RedBird is a start-up started in 2013 in Paris and in San Francisco. It creates softwares that collect, process and visualise the data from drones for construction sites, mines and quarries.

In the last years, RedBird created a platform Cloud, that helps users access and interact with the construction site information at any moment and anywhere.

How is the contract between RedBird and Caterpillar ?

The contract the two companies have reached is a co-marketing consent on which Caterpillar will present the RedBrid software to his clients.

This partnership provides continuity with the agreement between RedBird and Bergerat Monnoyeur (distributor Cat in France, Belgium, East Europe and Algeria) in 2014 on drones use. It's been a year and a half since the two companies have started wroking together with a panel of Caterpillar clients. Thus, RedBird developed its drone solution to meet the needs of the construction, mine and quarry.

Caterpillar always looksto be technology advanced. With this partnership, the American company has an additional commercial argument on the construction equipment industry.

Drones to increase productivity on construction sites

By having an agreement with RedBird, Cat wants to help clients be more productive on construction sites by optimising works. Drones will collect pictures of the construction site and thus allow the clients to better manage the process of work. The use of drones help digitise a construction site and collect information on the machines environment.

On the one hand, drones are able to collect date and on the other hand they can stock them and broadcast them via Cloud. For construction sites, this system help operators manage their inventory. They can look at productivity on construction sites and evaluate the machine's capacity for a better optimisation. With drones, operators can also control if safety rules are respected on construction sites.

The first commercial actions by both companies will take place in the EMA zone (Europe, Africa and Middle East). Indeed, this area has a regulations in favor of civil drones.

« Caterpillar is always looking for new collaborations with outside actors, to give clients and dealerships competitve advantages », said George Taylor, VP of Caterpillar Marketing & Digital.

In the coming months, Caterpillar will start an awareness-raising campaign among their distributors for them to explain to clients the advantages of drones and aerial pictures.
