Caterpillar introduces the Cat Grade and Assist systems for the 323 EL excavators
The Cat Grade and Assist features make the Cat 323 EL excavators more malleable and precise for levelling works and thus work in semi-autonomous mode.
The Cat hydraulic excavators 323 E L are known for their fuel efficiencies and their realibility. Last November, the American manufacturer announced the addition of the Assist and Cat Grade improves the performances of the Caterpillar track excavators.
Cat increases the bucket's precision with Assist
The Assist system helps the operator be more precise with its excavator for levelling work. When the driver misses the target by 10 cm, Assist automatically corrects the excavator's trajectory by making the boom and bucket autonomous. In order to limit the mistakes, Assist helps the bucket keep the same angle when excavating and avoid digging under the wanted level. Caterpillar ensures that this system can excavate two times faster than a traditional hydraulic excavator, even for drivers with little experience.
This feature improves the performances of the Cat 323 EL excavator while keeping the power and guiding features already in the base system. The Assist technology, associated with the sound alerts for the excavator's guidance, gives a great work precision for the operators. These don't need additional materials when manoeuvering.
The Cat Grade technology optimises work
Cat Grade is a system associated with the screen and joystick in the cab. It allows the operator to create 2D plans from the inside of the cab. Once these plans made, he only has to press a button for the machine to do the work. Cat Grade uses a GPS system. The feature can be associated with the Cat AccuGrade system to get 3D plans.
With these features, Caterpillar improves the productivity and reinforce the operators safety on construction sites.
