At Intermat, Ammann, Bomag and Hamm manufacturers displayed their latest models of single drum, tandem and compact rollers.

The Ammann ASC 90 and ASC 150 single drum rollers

The two latest  Amman single drum rollers ranging from 9 to 15 tonnes are equipped with the latest generation of diesel engines meeting the Stage IIIb and EPATier 4 interim norms, with a dangerous pollution downed by 80%. They use 15% less fuel than the previous engines, with new cooling systems and an automatic idle control.

The main advantage of the ASC 90 and ASC 150 rollers lies in the  ACE Force and ACE Pro systems, that precisely informs the operator about the compaction state, and automatically adjust the vibrating parameters according to the load and the soil. Integrated in a navigation cartography, these systems offer the possibility to visualize the areas that haven't been compacted, the soil capacity, the number of passes and the frequency and amplitude values.  The compaction volume of these machines is comparable to the volume of compaction of heavier machines.

Equipped with a spacious cab with controls easy to handle, these new Ammann roller models also offer an easy and fast daily maintenance with accessible checkpoints from the ground and an electro-hydraulically operated engine hood.

The Bomag BW 191 and BW 206 tandem rollers

The new models of Bomag articulated tandems complete the Series 5 tandem rollers range, with up to 16 tonnes of operating weight. These new BW 191 and BW 206 rollers offer the TanGo oscillation system that uses low vibration for compaction works on sensible work sites such as bridges, on thin layers or close to buildings. The Economizer system measures compaction progress. This means no unnecessary passes.

These new compacting machines have a spacious cab with the possibility to move every element on the cab's width, even the seat and steering wheel which are docked together. The operator can swivel the seat by 75° or 15° right or left to have a better view on his work. The engine being at the back of the Bomag tandem roller, the driver isn't bothered by the noise, heat or exhaust gas. For an easy maintenance, there is no lubricating points on this roller and all areas are accessible from the ground.

The ultra compact Hamm H 5i and H 7i rollers

Hamm, compaction specialist for Wirtgen, have added two new compact rollers to the H range : the H 5i roller, which only weighs 4,5 tonnes, and the H 7i roller, weighing 8 tonnes. Short in length (only 4,4 mètres for the H 7i, the shortest in the world in its category), these rollers are ideal for small working sites. Their manœuvrability comes from a three-point swivel joint and a short wheel base.

The main innovation of these new Hamm mini-rollers lies in the transmission : the wheels are not directed by the rear axle but by the Poclain hydraulic engine in each wheel. This caracteristics allows these new compact roller models to have a better traction and a ground clearance larger than the previous versions.

The H 5i and H 7i rollers are equipped with diesel Kubota Stage 4 / Tier 4f engines of 55,4 kW with particle filters. Optionally, the Motor Stop System helps save fuel. In the cab, the controls are easy to use, the visibility is optimum in every direction and the comfort is guaranteed thanks to the AC option.

The rollers can be equipped with smooth drums, pads or a road grader.  The Hamm H 7i can also be used with a VIO drum that can compact by oscillation as well as by vibration. An ideal adaptability for renters, main target of Hamm for these small rollers.
