Crusher The crusher is a machine used in mines and quarries to crush and reduce rock into aggregate, whether it is limestone, sandstone, slate, granite or marble.
There are different types of crushers: gyratory crushers, jaw crushers and cone crushers which work by crushing ores, and impact crushers, or impactors which operate by shocks using beaters mounted on a rotor. Several crushing stages follow one another, in order to crush rocks to an increasingly reduced diameter: we speak of primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary crushing. The throughput of the crusher is measured in tonnes per hour.
The hopper and the feeder are used to convey the rocks to the crushing device. Opening the feeder can change the particle size of the crushed material, which is then sent to a screen using a conveyor belt.
Although most installations are stationary, there are mobile crushers that can be moved around job sites.
