Jungheinrich is actively involved in the 2010 World Exposition in three ways: as a logistics service provider, as an exhibitor and as a sponsor. This year’s World Exposition runs until October 31 in Shanghai

Jungheinrich has supplied the official logistics partners for EXPO 2010, the Sinotrans and Agility companies, with over 50 rental forklifts. In selecting the suppliers of materials handling equipment, the Chinese authorities concentrated on more than mere efficiency; for EXPO 2010 the environmental friendliness of the logistics processes before, during and after the World Exposition was also a major criterion.

Environmental protection is also a major concern at Jungheinrich. For this reason, the forklifts deployed at EXPO 2010 include electric counterbalanced trucks. Thanks to the employment of Jungheinrich’s especially environmentally friendly three-phase AC drive systems, these battery-powered counterbalanced forklifts are extremely efficient and keep consumption at a constant minimum. Their low energy costs are reduced even further as energy is recovered during braking.

The Jungheinrich forklifts required to master the logistical challenges presented by the six-month event in Shanghai are being deployed at the EXPO warehouses as well across the EXPO grounds. “One of the things the World Exposition in Shanghai clearly illustrates is that an event of this magnitude can only be realised with the help of sophisticated logistics”, commented Hans-Georg Frey, Chairman of the Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG.

Apart from its activities in the area of materials handling equipment, Jungheinrich is also a sponsor of the German pavilion and the Hamburg House at EXPO 2010. In cooperation with high-ranking Chinese economic representatives, Jungheinrich has staged a series of events at the Hamburg House, with several more planned.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is a service provider with manufacturing operations as well as an intralogistics solution provider, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and consulting. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
