Ten Hitachi models make their debut at Bauma
The new Hitachi mini excavators include the standard ZX18-3 and ZX27-3, and the short-tail swing ZX29U-3, ZX33U-3, ZX38U-3, ZX48U-3 and ZX52U-3. In addition to the large ZW330, ZW370 and ZW550 wheel loaders, they are the first new machines to be announced by HCME. More new Hitachi models will be unveiled in the run-up to the trade fair.
The smallest new mini excavators are designed for light applications, such as utilities, landscaping and general purpose construction. The ZX18-3 and ZX27-3 can be easily transported on a trailer and a suitable towing vehicle, driven with a standard EU licence.
Available with a cab or canopy, the ZX18-3 is equipped with a powerful and economical 10.7kW engine, while the ZX27-3 has an efficient 19.1kW engine. Their superior power-to-weight ratios result in rapid acceleration and smooth handling. Operators of both machines will also notice an improved front speed and greater digging force compared to the previous models.
Among the benefits of the new short-tail swing ZX29U-3, ZX33U-3 and ZX38U-3 models is the automatic travel speed control. This feature helps to maintain smooth handling and stability, which is further increased by an additional counterweight (standard on all three models).
Designed for use on small construction projects and general groundworks, the ZX29U-3, ZX33U-3 and ZX38U-3 are ideal for working in urban areas, where space is limited. They benefit from the use of Eco Zone technology, which helps to cut fuel consumption while still maintaining a high level of productivity.
Eco Zone technology is also available on the largest new mini excavators, the ZX48U-3 and ZX52U-3, which are perfect for use on small construction, demolition and other confined job sites.
Equipped with powerful, relatively low-noise, four-cylinder engines, they also benefit from the Hitachi High Performance Hydraulic System, which ensures optimum oil flow to motor and oil cylinders for smooth simultaneous operation.
In addition to the latest mini excavators, another exciting launch at Bauma will be the new Hitachi large wheel loaders. The ZW330, ZW370 and ZW550 are the first machines to be launched in Europe since the alliance between Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (HCM), Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. (Kawasaki) and TCM Corporation (TCM) was formed in October 2008. HCME will display the three models on its exhibition stand at Bauma.
The powerful and economical engines have two settings: power boost and fuel efficient, which are designed to boost productivity and efficiency. The large ZW models benefit from Torque Proportional Differential, which is advantageous on uneven terrain. The ZW370 and ZW550 also have superior traction control that adjusts engine speed automatically to suit working conditions, and improved torque control for enhanced overall performance.
